Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics

Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics was established on Aug 1st 2016 by fusion of Department of Molecular Biology and Department of Genetics.

Most of the research activity is focused to functional analysis of genes using various model organisms from Trypanosoma, C. elegans, Drosophila and other insects to mice. Graduate students are trained in modern methods of molecular genetics including mutagenesis, RNAinterference, transgenesis and cell culture techniques. The department is closely linked to Biology Centre of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (Institute of Parasitology and Entomology).
